Pool Filter Cleaning & Replacement
Keep your water crystal clear with professional filter maintenance and replacement.

Your Filter Works Harder Than You Think
Your pool filter is the workhorse of your entire system. It runs for hours every day, pulling dirt, debris, oils, and contaminants out of your water. Over time, all that buildup clogs the filter media and reduces how well it can clean your water. When your filter gets too dirty, your pool starts to show it with cloudy water, slow circulation, and algae growth.
Most pool owners forget about their filter until something goes wrong. Regular filter cleaning is one of the most important things you can do to keep your pool healthy and your equipment running efficiently. We handle all types of filters including cartridge, sand, and DE filters for homeowners throughout Pasadena.
What Our Filter Cleaning Service Includes
Cleaning a pool filter properly takes the right tools and experience. We do not just spray it off with a hose and call it a day. Here is what we do for each filter cleaning:
- •Remove the filter cartridge or grids from your filter housing
- •Inspect for tears, cracks, or damage that could affect performance
- •Deep clean with professional filter cleaning solution to break down oils and minerals
- •Rinse thoroughly to remove all contaminants and cleaning solution
- •Check all O-rings and seals for wear and replace if needed
- •Reassemble and test to ensure proper flow and pressure
For sand and DE filters, we backwash the system, inspect the internal components, and replace the filter media if it is past its useful life.
When to Clean vs. When to Replace
Cartridge filters should be cleaned every 3 to 6 months depending on how much you use your pool and how many trees are nearby. Sand filters need backwashing regularly and complete media replacement every 5 to 7 years. DE filters benefit from cleaning a few times per year and new DE powder after each backwash.
If your filter is damaged, worn out, or just not keeping up anymore, we can replace it with a new one. We carry high-quality replacement filters and can recommend the right size and type for your pool. Many of our customers who use our weekly pool maintenance service get filter cleanings included as part of their plan, so they never have to worry about it.
Signs Your Filter Needs Attention
How do you know when your filter needs cleaning? Watch for cloudy water that will not clear up even after a deep cleaning. Check your pressure gauge. If the pressure is 8 to 10 PSI higher than normal, your filter is clogged. You might also notice weaker jets or slower circulation. These are all signs that your filter is struggling and needs professional attention.
Do not wait until your pool turns green with algae to address filter problems. Regular cleaning keeps your system running smoothly and saves you money on chemicals and repairs down the road.
